I'm sitting here contemplating whether it is worth the aggravation to go into town to use a coupon for butter. The fanatic shoppers don't seem quite so bad this year (as long as I'm not buying any sneakers), but the hour of drunken drivers is fast approaching, so should I risk my safety and peace of mind, or do without butter til the next sale?

20. My thoughts (attempt to kickstart discussion)

Yeah I figure people won't reply till after Christmas, but...

The admins don't intend to delete the old software, since it contains the archives, so all they have to do (to leave this board open to new posts instead of archiving it) is to flip a switch.

Presumably if all we're asking for is to keep GD2 open, they'd have to keep the Lounge and a Dungeon in place as well, to allow the (all volunteer) DU2 mods to function as normal. So that's three forums?

If the admins were open to the idea of keeping GD2 up as an "underground" forum a la early days of DU,

LBN-2 might still have to be shut down on the grounds that it is redundant to the new LBN and would double moderation duties for the old site... or would it?

Video forum is another question because DU3 allows videos on all threads so it is not necessary to have a latest videos forum on DU2 -- We could just merge DU2 "videos" into GD2 by flipping another switch (allow video embedding).

But that's a subject for discussion.

Just trying to discuss what's possible. If you were the Admins, what would YOU do?

I don't see a problem with posting LBN in GD, it should save on mod duties.

Also have we got mods willing to take on the task? We've got some awesome mods right now, but do they want to continue?

I don't see a need to have a video forum (in line with trying to streamline us). Just put a link to the video in the post if the switch can't be flipped.

And I would point out to Admins that we are still generating some ad income on this site. With Occupy Underground that will continue. Once it's archived, there won't be that many hits here.

I'm not averse to various options... But it seems like a sensible approach, given the likely Admin preference.

The DU2 Latest Threads might become frozen in amber anyhow -- in which case it would only provide links to the most
recent threads on GD2 anyhow (assuming GD2 remains open to new posts.) So not having latest Videos isn't a big deal, if we're really only hoping for, best case scenario, one or two forums to remain open to new posts as a sort of back-end DU. I always just posted video links on GD anyhow...

I'd have dozens of the one of the kitty jumping into the tub full of water. We keep a water pan for our kitties in our bathtub and they never fail to get into it when I'm trying to get ready for a bath.
