Mormon university says skinny jeans don’t meet dress code
Mormon university says skinny jeans don’t meet dress code

Mormon college students are used to adapting their style to the school’s modest dress code. Guys keep clean-shaven (even though beards are the thing right now), and girls go for long-sleeved T-shirts layered under tops, dresses paired with cardigans and leggings under skirts.

Now, some have one fewer option in their wardrobes after a church-affiliated university in Idaho has warned that skinny jeans don’t meet appropriate dress standards, school paper The Student Review reported (devastating Mormon hipsters everywhere).

A testing center at Brigham Young University-Idaho posted a flier saying, “If your pants are tight enough for us to see the shape of your leg, your pants are to tight,” reminding them of the honor agreement that bans form-fitting attire.

The school clarified that they have not singled out skinny jeans as a violation, saying in an email to Gawker, “The Testing Center has not made any new standard, nor has there been a ban of a particular piece of clothing. The effort of the Testing Center as well as with other employees and students is to encourage others in their commitment to comply with the Honor Code.”

3. This comes as no surprise
Personally I don't get the skinny jeans thing. IMHO very few people actually look okay in them. (I am not one of those people)I asked my 19 year old about it and he doesn't get it either.

People should be able to wear whatever they want. But if you go to a school run by a backwards, misogynistic, bigotted culture of people, don't expect to be able to do or wear whatever you want.

4. Skinny jeans? Apparently the Walking Tinker Toy look is in
I've too many women in skinny jeans whose legs had no shape. Might as well been two articulated pipes.

That is not healthy.

6. The "Spirit" knows what is best, and will tell you what we think for you ROFLMAO
...

Emily, a student majoring in sociology who asked that her last name not be used, said when she took a test the week before Thanksgiving, she was allowed in, but had to read the updated flyer.

“If you don’t understand the Dress and Grooming standards, we invite you to go to the Lord ‘and ask in faith, nothing wavering’ for approval of the clothing you wear. The Spirit will tell you whether what you are wearing is appropriate or not,” it read.

.....

9. So back to skirts and toga's?
how does one wear pants that don't show the shape of your leg? I mean two sticks hanging down from the body. Sans a skirt to obscure that stick shape your pretty much gonna show that in any pants.
