Roy Orbison's Widow Dies 23 Years After Him. To The Day.
Barbara Orbison, the widow and manager of rock n' roll pioneer Roy Orbison, has died of pancreatic cancer aged 60.

A family spokeswoman said she died at a Los Angeles medical centre on Tuesday - the 23rd anniversary of her husband's death.

Barbara met her husband in 1968 when she was 17 years old and Orbison was 32. They married nine months later.

Since the 1980s, Orbison devoted her time to managing her husband's estate and keeping his legacy alive.

1. RIP.
I was thinking about Roy Orbison this morning. How strange. It was not like I was listening to his music on the radio. And I usually think about Christmas music this time of year.

I thinking about how, in this era of music videos, he might never have become a star. He was so strange looking that he had to make it on his enormous talent alone.

I understand this love story. My first husband was much older than me. We only had six and a half years together.

3. She was a very nice person
Back in April the day before what would've Roy's 75 th birthday a concert had been arranged in Nashvile. For whatever reason it was cancelled at short notice. A friend who owns a music pub here in London sorted a sustitute at short notice and Barbara authorised everyone to given both a free CD and a free DVD of Roy.

RIP.

4. The sunglasses came from the fact that he broke his regular glasses on a plane trip
to Europe for a show and had to wear his prescription sunglasses to see. That became his image. Buddy Holly had the regular glasses and Roy had his sunglasses.

5. Roy Orbison was
the one singer Elvis feared could challenge him. He thought Orbison had a unique voice and style that might give him a run.
