http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJD8pZiRIzs

Listen to him rant about Occupy and the 99%. This guy is a fucking idiot. I never really liked him but fucking shiiiiiiit.

< quote = Adam Corolla >

Youre just looked at as peon No. 27 whos putting in an application and, guess what, I dont like your attitude. Get your feet off my desk and hit the bricks. Im not hiring you, Carolla says on the recording. And now, your plan is to come back and throw a brick at my window. Thats your plan. That is whats going on. Its this envy and shame, and theres going to be a lot more of it.

It used to be, back in the day, he goes on, fatherd be walking his son down the sidewalk and youd see a guy go by in a Rolls Royce and the father would say, There goes Mr. Jenkins. Look up to him. That guy works hard. That guy built a company. That guy built an empire. Now look at him. Hes got his Rolls Royce.

Now its like, Oh! Look at him. Does he need that car? Why does he need that car? Im driving a Chevette. Why does he get to drive that car? Lets go and throw a rock at it. Thats not going to help you get out of the Chevette, a** douche. Get the to work.

< / dumbass >

1. What an idiot. Hell, back in the day, people did one of two things.
1) If it wasn't the Great Depression, they'd unionize because they were working for a douchebag who tried to drain every ounce of labor out of them for as little compensation as possible or ...

2) If it was the Great Depression, there'd be food rioting and huge physical brawls between workers who were kicked off payroll and then short-changed over what was still owed and the employers who crushed them.

2. He always struck me as riding the "arrogance comedy" train.
That kind of humor when done improperly inevitably makes one come off a total obnoxious jerk rather than a funny person.

6. Are there really "participation trophies"? That is what his entire rant is based on.
If there are really such trophies in every school they are fucking stupid and he is right.

But I doubt there is (but I went to school in the 70s). Winners should get trophies and not losers.

7. I don't see what that has to do with Occupy exclusively though... plenty of self entitled "last

place trophy" crybabies amongst the Teahadists as well. But then, the Teahadists aren't standing up to the corporations who pay the salary of shitty half-ass TV personalities...

Corolla pretty much made his career doing Jay Leno's old routines with some "fucks" and "shits" thrown in to play to the 18-24 crowd. If anyone deserves a "last place trophy" its him.

9. I agree 100%. He has committed many logical fallacies if he equates all OWS as "losers wanting
handouts".

Hell, I STILL don't know what the fuck OWS wants but "loser trophies" is not something I heard about.

8. In addition to adding another F$%!K You! to Adam...
...a little reminder:

Back in the day, Mr. Jenkins built that company when top tax rates were 70-90%, the financial markets were strongly regulated, a much larger portion of Americans belonged to unions and the unions were politically much more influential, and the media was far more fragmented and less consolidated than it is now. Somehow, under conditions Republicans assure me are radically socialist or communist, somehow Comrade Jenkins built his private company and became personally wealthy.

The guy in the Rolls today got the money by gutting the companies and empires that ol' Mr. Jenkins built, thanks to deregulation, corporate and media consolidation, and the political influence of money over everything else that allowed him to put money in his pockets by swindling rather than building.

(yes, that's grossly oversimplified, but cut me some slack: how much complexity can Adam take?)

11. Well, "back in the day", MY father used to say...
"There goes a thieving Big Biz asshole. He got all that money for that piece of junk he's driving on the backs of his workers, and by stealing from everyone else." Unlike Corolla's braindead father, mine actually paid attention to how that guy got his money.

12. This is a guy whose first TV show featured scantily clad women bouncing their breasts for the camera
One of his more famous repeat skits involved him setting up booths to convince people to sign petitions to repeal the 19th Amendment, roll back womens sufferage, and strip women of the right to vote. In another, he had a 10 year old kid stand in front of a liquor store and try to convince people to buy him booze. And then, of course, there were the "juggy girls"...barely clothed young women who would dance around the set, jump up and down on command to bounce their breasts, and erotically bounce on trampolines,

Sorry, but his comments about Occupy can't really lower my opinion of him, because my opinion of him was already through the floor.

17. Anyone Who Believes People Are Rich Because They Work Hard............
............are probably too stupid to find their way home at night.

I usually respond to these pricks and their simplistic, "Hard Work = Rich" bullshit in one of two ways:

1. Talk to a farmer. Nobody works harder than the American farmer. See if you can find a rich one.

2. Two words: Paris Hilton.

I bet he thinks that if slaves worked extra hard in the cotton fields, they were granted their freedom to become plantation owners too. NO!!! They WEREN'T!!! And do you know why? Because when the SLAVE OWNERS found a slave who was dumb enough to work HARDER than the rest of the people for the SAME AMOUNT OF PAY (i.e. nothing), they EXPLOITED that asset for all it was worth. They didn't set it free. If anything, they put HEAVIER chains on that slave because he/she was more valuable to THEIR bottom line.

These days, Mr. Jenkins got his Rolls Royce by exploiting the people dumb enough to break their backs for HIS bottom line. He's not going to allow such valuable (and dumb) assets to get out of the salt mines and into the cushy offices. Who's going to mine the salt if you allow the hard workers to move up?

to not be held accountable for increasing the size of his bank account while ruining the nation's economy for the middle and working classes.

Mr. Jenkins has now RIGGED the SYSTEM so he doesn't HAVE to work honestly or hard.

I never thought Adam Carolla had anything to offer besides some L.A. attitude. On occasion he was mildly funny, but that's about it. (I use past tense just because I don't pay attention to him anymore)
