"Cop used torture to steal: witness
A former Chicago Police officer tortured a drug dealer to force him to say where he was stashing his money, according to federal court testimony Thursday.
Glenn Lewellen, the ex-cop, is on trial with five other men. They allegedly were part of a crew involved in robberies, kidnappings and drug trafficking from the late 1990s until 2009 when reputed kingpin Saul Rodriguez was nabbed.
David Venegas — testifying in exchange for immunity from prosecution — told jurors he was part of the crew and the godfather of one of Rodriguez’s children.
He said Lewellen repeatedly Tasered a drug dealer to learn where he kept his cash. The dealer, whose hands were bound and head was covered, “kept mentioning that his daughter was just born,” Venegas said, adding, “He was screaming.” Lewellen responded with a threat about the man’s wife and daughter, Venegas said."
