I got a friend with the blues
She is an old student of mine and just suffered the senseless, violent death of one her students. I think listening to the blues can really help let some of those bad, poisonous emotions a way out. I love the blues but I dont know enough to recommend a good set of music to listen and grieve to. Any suggestions? Thanks DU'ers

Saw him quite a few times when I lived in the DC area. Truly one of the best.

3. My neice Elizabeth is going through the same thing.
It happened in Buffalo, NY, a week ago or so. She is really upset about it.

4. Accentuate the Positive... Johnny Mercer.
It's the best way to remember someone you really care about. Blues music has its place, but this isn't one of them.

Take it from someone who knows.

11. Buddy Guy is my favorite blues player
but I find straight ahead jazz to be more uplifting when I'm feeling down.

12. "The Death of JB Lenoir" John Mayall, and Eric Clapton's...
..."Tears in Heaven" even tho it's not strictly blues. That song helped me cry out an ex-fiance's suicide.
