Cripe, that was a lead story or one of the lead stories all day Sunday from the MSM news gerbils.

So, Gingrich received an endorsement from some newspaper in New Hampshire?

First, newspaper endorsements are so 19th Century.

Second, newspapers are so 19th Century. With the web, even TV and radio are joining newspapers in the dinosaur scrap heap.

Yet, the MSM gerbils acted like this endorsement seals the Republican nomination for Gingrich. What has he done to make good from the corruption and buffoonery of his past? Nothing.

The endorsement isn't worth the paper it's written on.

2. I think there's more to it than that, even.
Newt was very careful to position himself not just as a candidate, but as a source of news and access to Gingrich and other candidates. Apparently Newt's own Wurlitzer churns out the moron sausage which is in turn re-labeled and sold across the right-wing spectrum as "news."

So a local newspaper has a heavy incentive to endorse Gingrich early and often, because it offers them "access" to Gingrich in addition to the other clowns. It was, of course, the threat of revoking "access" by which Karl Rove controlled the national media. Gingrich obviously spotted that ploy and has re-written it to serve his own personal ends, as he always does.

Gingrich, like Bush before him, is a deeply flawed candidate who would not otherwise have a chance unless the narrative is constantly hijacked, misdirected, and fed a steady diet of misinformation. He's already built a news catapult to spit those sticky lies far and wide, and now he's looking to amplify its effects.

3. Not every voter is a tech-saavy 20-year old...
In fact, most of them aren't. In an election that doesn't have a leading candidate, the UL endorsement can have some clout.

4. The Manchester Useless Leader has a history of picking losers.
Christ, they endorsed Steve Forbes in 2000 and John McCain in 2008.
