1. a little blurb from AP...McQueary after 2002 still went to Sandusky's charity events
Described in court papers as distraught about witnessing the 2002 attack, separate newspaper accounts from the time indicate McQueary appeared in the months and years that followed in charity events that Sandusky also took part in, or were to benefit Sandusky's group The Second Mile.

I think the situation will provide safety issues, that many fans, a litany of other fans(From Nebraska), it won't take much to set something off.

eta:to change those, to that.

8. How does his reporting it to Paterno qualify him as a "whistleblower"?
Sandusky was no longer an employee of Penn State thus Paterno was not his boss. Perhaps Sandusky's "emeritus" status made him legally part of Penn State, but surely Paterno was NOT the correct person to whom to report this.

If McQueary had seen a random stranger raping a kid in the showers, would he have also reported that to Paterno instead of calling 911? Of course not.

The fact that McQueary attended Second Mile events after seeing that child being raped is all the proof I need that he put his career before the safety of innocent children. That's not a "whistleblower" that's an ass-coverer.

And please don't think I am excusing Paterno in any way. He likely knew about Sandusky's criminal behavior in 1998 and fired him for it. But he did NOTHING to prevent it from happening again. When McQueary's accusation forced his hand, Paterno passed the buck to people who had the same interest as he in covering it up. And, all those years, Paterno continued to support and promote the charity Sandusky used to find his victims. Sickening beyond belief.

5. Wanna know what's even more fucked up?
Governor Corbett may have been the one that pushed this whole story into prominence. Apparently, he HATES Penn State for pushing against his education cuts.

Yes, this is loveable Republican PA Governor Corbett, fighting against his fellow Republican power brokers.

6. That's not more fucked up than this horrific debacle
That's politics. What IS fucked up about it, however, is the possibility that Corbett SAT on this story until it became politically expedient to make it public.

7. Really?
You think hiding and abetting child sexual abuse should be overlooked for political reasons? For ANY reasons?

This isn't about Penn State or a governor. It's about children who are abused by powerful adults--whether in sports or the Church or in families. It won't end if we allow people to paper it over.

11. Corbett was the Attorney General investigating the charges well before he became governor.
He's hardly lovable as governor, but he was doing the right thing as AG.

14. McQueary in protective custody
Mike McQueary
I'm In Protective Custody,
Double Fisting Booze

Mike McQueary has reportedly informed the Penn State football players that he's currently in protective custody and "double fisting" alcohol.

According to PennLive.com, one of the PSU coaches gathered several players in a room on campus and allowed McQueary to speak to the team via speaker phone.

McQueary reportedly told the team, "I wanted to let you guys know I'm not your coach anymore. I'm done.”

McQueary also told the team he's not at the University, but in protective custody after receiving several threats ... and "double fisting" booze...
