Why the GOP Should Panic
Why the GOP Should Panic

One GOP frontrunner is accused of several instances of sexual harassment; the other has managed to make his candidacy as exciting as coffin shopping. A third leading candidate spent this week trying to convince people he wasn’t drunk during a speech in New Hampshire. Not a single one of them—not Herman Cain nor Mitt Romney nor Rick Perry—bests a badly weakened Barack Obama in the latest polls. And yet our betters in the GOP establishment—the same crew who brought us Bob Dole, John McCain, and the PR strategy for the Iraq War—inform us that Republican primary voters are happier with their choices than ever.

3. Noot resurgent
I've seen more instances than I care to count in the corporate media of Noot being foisted upon the public consciousness. I don't believe Noot will withstand scrutiny if his 'turn in the barrel' comes 'round at last either, however.

9. He was on the Toady Show this morning
It worried me for a moment, because I thought maybe I'd set my clock back 17 years instead of just one hour.

Even if it was a typo, it's awesome.

I could go for 'Toad' instead, I suppose, but I don't like denigrating animals for political purposes.

4. This is all distraction - I am sure the RNC will introduce their choice at a later date - Grover
Norquist? Someone like him. Their voter base likes authority - all their candidates so far are buzz word experts. They are not authoritative enough. It doesn't take too much. Bush didn't work so well.

They converted Reagan from a grouchy politician to Mr. Smiles. They can do it for Norquist or someone like him who is in on calling the agenda on behalf of his higher ups. Problem in his background such as his Islamic Institute history - they can take care of that just as they took care of Bush's military history.

Doesn't have to be Norquist, just someone of the same arrogance and a player at the elite level. No buzz word pre-show jesters.

5. Could they *legally* enter someone at the last minute?
If yes, then what a game changer. Throw out red meat for a year, then whoop up some
excitement at the last minute with someone *solid.*

8. Problem with this is ...
... a cornered animal will do anything.

I know Republicans who would rather see their own kids homeless if it meant those "other people", were homeless too.

Sick fucks.

.... they don't want to win theory. Seriously. There is nothing to be gained by being the president that presides over the continuing and unstoppable disaster that is the American economy.

My guess is that they are actually concentrating on congress, not the white house. That way, they can stymie Obama for 4 more years and blame everything on him.

22. I completely agree with you.
The Republican Leadership do not want to win the Presidency.

As it stands right now, there's a chance they could retain the House and gain the Senate.

If Obama wins re-election with the above scenario playing out it will give him even MORE license (and an excuse) to continue his right wing economic policies.

I truly believe it's what TPTB want to have happen: Obama in the White House and a Republican House/Senate.

Having this Repub/Dem split allows strong partisans of both parties to continue to blame the other guys as our nation continues its descent to 3rd world status.
That's a dream scenario for the oligarchs.

I hope Americans can unite to change the system one day.

19. Something else too.
The GOP is railing on Obama for the economy and it shows in the Presidents polls. Obama ranks terrible numbers for the economy, yet people are leaving out everything that the term economy encompasses.

For example: If by economy, people are talking about the stock market, the President has pulled the "economy" up from 6400 it is now average 12000 that's a net increase of 5600 points. Charlie Sheen calls that winning.

For example: if by economy, people are talking about jobs, the President has created more "economy" in his first two years as President then W did in his entire 8 years. Obama has added over 2 million jobs. That's not failure, that's winning! The country could do a lot more winning if Democrats were in control of the house and had a super majority in the Senate.

21. I Smell Third Party...
If Mittens wins the nomination, the wingnut world will implode. Add to this the many teabaggers running against "establishment" rushpublicans in the primaries and you have a lot of sour grapes building. Look for another search for a "great white hope" to go after President Obama and the party will splinter. You'll see a similar dog & pony show then as we're seeing now as one name after another is floated to "carry the conservative banner"...and, hopefully divide the wingnut vote. Who is this "great white hope"? Not sure yet...but I do know that person will be annointed by rushbo and the hate radio ilk. Maybe this is where Grifterella thinks her big moment will come...
