Tea Party Public Workers
Yes they exist.

We had two firefighters come to my workplace which is a city in SoCal.
They taught us a refresher course in the use of our 800 MHz radios.

I noticed on the rear window of one of the lifted 4x4 trucks they drove in on; these stickers:

How can any public employee, such as these guys who were relatively intelligent, be so duped?
The stupidity of supporting an ideology that is hell-bent on slashing their careers and subsequent employee benefits packages is simply mind-numbing and stunning.

2. Many union members in Wisconsin, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan etc
vote Republican and bear some blame for what has happened in those states. They are short-sighted and their children and grandchildren will pay the price. I will never understand Reagan Democrats.

Tea Party Adopts 'Don't Tread On Me' Flag
March 25, 2010
Last weekend, as the House prepared to vote on the health care overhaul legislation, a group of Republican lawmakers unfurled a large "Don't Tread on Me" flag from a balcony of the Capitol building, rallying their supporters below. The flag has become a staple at Tea Party rallies. Melissa Block speaks to Joseph Ellis, professor of history at Mount Holyoke College, about the history of the "Don't Tread on Me" flag and its use by the Tea Party movement.

6. I work for a county government and we have tea party people too.
I had one wing nut co-worker yell out "I hate taxes!" I said to him, "But taxers pay your salary!" Then came the sound of silence.

The management types are right wing but they were so happy when ARRA money increased our income and made their budget problems lighter.

8. Conservatives vote and believe things against their own interests
All the time.

It's called "religion" "ideology" and "authoritarianism" first. That's who they are, because otherwise, they would think for themselves. They can't. They believe there is something fundamentally evil about thinking for yourself, and for many of them, they are right. They are the ones that produce serial killers and war criminals - they can't think for themselves, and latch onto whatever person can think for them. Unfortunately, some of them latch onto the wrong faith/organization/ideology.

12. being a member of the TEA Party is really just a free pass from the
media (and others) so that they can say (lying, of course) that they have always been "independent" (despite voting for George W. Bush both times, straight GOP tickets, and having the "Ted Kennedy's car killed more people than my gun" bumper stickers)

13. Either they're not nearly as intelligent as you think, or ...
... their livelihoods are not as important to them as their ideology, which would make them rather cynical hypocrites. It could be a little of both here.

14. I work for the Federal Government. We have lots of Teabaggers
At least at my agency. I've even seen a car with a "Government is not the solution. Government is the problem" bumper sticker parked IN THE SENIOR EXECUTIVE PARKING SPOTS. In other words, this person has been with the Government long enough to be a senior executive - meaning that he or she IS PART OF THE PROBLEM.
