I really don't care if the president isn't the smartest person in the room...
But they better not be the most ignorant.

It seems as if the rank and file GOP voter doesn't care about book learnin'.

Look, like him or hate him, you have to admit that Romney is at least pretty sharp on the uptake, but look at the rest of those clowns that are embraced by the GOP base...

It's sad.

The dumbing down of America is in full swing.

1. Romney only looks sharp by comparison.
i'll steal a line I heard on KO or LO last night. "Republicans act like they are choosing the prom queen instead of the president."

11. Mitt Romney will never be president
Edited on Wed Nov-02-11 04:52 PM by Aerows
He's hated by the extreme RW, not liked by the moderates, and there isn't a center-right Democrat that would vote for him.

He's pretty much a cheetah on ice skates - he sounds like he has qualifications until you put the entire package together, then you realize he's effective at nothing.

15. I would love to see Obama thank him in a debate
for his "contributions to the new health care reform law".

2. Romney isn't nearly as smart as he's given credit for.......

..... Yes, he's probably sharper than the rest of the people in the Clown Car, but when you listen to him, he's pretty vacant too. Just another puppet who can't tie his shoes without a command coming from somewhere.

13. He's a cheetah trying to wear ice skates
and skate around his own policies. He's at home nowhere, and all the money in the world won't keep him from sliding all over the ice, being out of his element, whatever that is, and generally being a failure.

3. Romney has to act dumber than he is

Which is kind of amusing to watch.

I'm never a good judge of candidate appeal. The "goofy Perry speech" was one of the few times I enjoyed watching him do anything.

Of course, I saw the "Dean scream" live and my thought was, "Now there's a guy with enthusiasm." Why it was played as a huge faux pas, I still to this day have no idea.

4. I've given up hoping we always have smart presidents.
Now, I'll settle for just hoping our presidents aren't malevolent.

5. Full swing indeed...
But it's not just sad.

It's horrifying. The consequences of the policies that have led to this dumbing down will prove to be disastrous for our country as a whole.

We are truly headed for Third World status, and the Republicans are leading the way.

There are too many who are following.

6. The more I think about it, the less I think of the intelligent and the higher of the compassionate
I spent 8 years railing against a dumb president who had a sweet tooth for military adventurism, corporations and disregard for The Constitution.

I helped vote in a smart president who had a sweet tooth for military adventurism, corporations and disregard for The Constitution.

There are people filling America's streets right now, not because the President or elected representatives haven't been smart enough or dumb enough, it's because the plight of the American people have been shown so little compassion by those representatives.

7. The problem with Romney is he flip/flops so damn much. He is for something today
but against it tomorrow and he forgets that the media has recorded all of these. He wants to win the White House at any cost and I wonder why that is with the money that he has. It's not like he needs a job.

12. Romney's real purpose is to bring
Mormonism into the mainstream as just another Christian sect among many.

He's doing his job. Winning the presidency is secondary. The power he wields as a rich individual Palestine into insignificance when compared to the power he holds in the Mormon hierarchy, an organization that rivals the Catholic church on terms of money, and vast amounts of land owned.

14. The GOP has been foxified
Rupert Murdoch co-opted the party and created the TV image of the GOP by putting on Palin and crew. Now we are all finding out that entertainment-politics is a horrible idea.
