A couple of things RE: Occupy Nashville and the arrests

As I've stated before, this did NOT come from the Nashville city administration and the arrests were NOT carried out by the Nashville Police Department. I think that this is an important distinction for DUers to know.

The Plaza where they were camping out is considered "state" property, not city. As a result this came from the STATE administration of Governor Bill Haslam (R) and he enforced it with Tennessee State Troopers.

There were a couple of articles in the Tennessean this morning that supported what I had thought since the first arrests. As I said, I believe this is an important distinction.

Now as to what the Nashville admin and NPD WOULD have done if this were city property, I can't really say. Nashville cops, like cops all over, are part of the protection for the ownership class and it's possible they would have been WORSE than the Troopers. But the fact is they cannot be blamed for the arrests.
