Remember the crazy Quran-burning Rev. Terry Jones? He's running for president...
As a Republican, of course.

Quran-burning pastor announces presidential run

Whats left to do when youve already sparked international controversy for threatening to set a stack of Islams holy texts ablaze (and following through months later)?

Take your sense of God-given leadership to the White House, thats what.

Rev. Terry Jones, the pastor of Dove World Outreach Center in Florida who started Burn a Quran Day, announced Wednesday his candidacy for president through his organization Stand Up America Now.

<snip>

Jones told a Florida radio station hell be running as a Republican. He is soliciting donations through Stand Up America Now.

He sent out the press release today.

(Mods, this is an actual press release and not subject to copyright restrictions.)

Announcing: Dr. Terry Jones for President

Our campaign promises or agenda:

1. Stop overspending immediately.

We are now overspending by 4 billion dollars a day.

2. Balance the budget.

If this is not done, then we will experience a total collapse of our economy and way of life.

3. Reduce military spending.

All military on foreign soil should be brought back immediately and all future involvement of

military on foreign soil should not be engaged until our country has become economically

strong again. The security of our nation must be reexamined and our military spending must

be cut by several billion dollars.

4. Deport all illegals.

We must immediately begin the deportation of the 20 million illegal aliens living in our country.

This would be an operation similar to what Eisenhower did to provide jobs for the soldiers

who were coming home after the war.

5. Also saving us 400 billion dollars per year.

6. Reduce corporate taxes.

Our corporate taxes are the highest in the world. Corporate taxes must be reduced

immediately in order to encourage people to start new businesses and existing corporations

to expand, thus producing the jobs that are needed.

7. Reduce bureaucracy. We must reexamine the bureaucracy of our government and

businesses. We are dying and drowning in bureaucracy, rules and regulations. Companies

must be held accountable for the consumer's protection, but the over-control and overkill

that we have is destroying our companies.

Somehow I doubt he's going to be filling Perry's empty podium at the debates.

1. "Reduce military spending"
I'm guessing that got into his position paper so he can cut it loose as a way of saying he's flexible.

Oh, and Orly Taitz has filed to run for the Senate in California. God loves professional comedians, is all I can say about these two candidacies.

11. I'm shocked! Are you implying he did this to help pimp his book?
I'm sure he was told it's the "in" thing this election cycle to hold your book in your campaign picture. He was just trying to fit in with the GOP's best and brightest!
