Palin uses MLK quote to defend her hate speech.
“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” - Martin Luther King, Jr.

Today is a day to reflect on the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr. King dedicated himself to justice and the struggles of an imperfect world. In the face of fierce opposition, he stood up for the oppressed, and he ultimately sacrificed all for equality and freedom. His was a remarkable life of love and service for all mankind. His work must continue.

With Dr. King’s faith in God and his unwavering hope in a brighter, stronger future, let us recommit today to continuing his work for a more peaceful and just nation.

- Sarah Palin

2. Tone matters. Hate speech and violence are why MLK is not here to speak out against your
current rhetoric Ms. Palin.

she's too stupid to be eloquent, regardless of how bogus her hijacking of MLK is.

8. She's always tone deaf.
But the sad truth is that she expresses what millions of conservatives keep in their minds!

10. So I guess this means
that Sarah feels that "blood libel" matters to her so much she just couldn't be silent about it?

Interesting.

13. Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about SP's narcissistic beliefs
Yes, Saint Sarah is today's MLK--minus the compassion, and nonviolence, and love, and peace.

Gime a fuckin' break!

17. Has she ever been silent?
She just has a bigger megaphone these days.

And in the case of Palin, another old saying comes to mind - "The empty drum makes the loudest noise"

18. So how is it that she's working for a more peaceful and just nation? I've yet
To see her work for anything that isn't angry, exclusionary, and divisive.

19. I'm sure she can show us where Dr. King placed his political
opponents in the crosshairs of a rifle!

What a disgusting woman. Just like Beck she chooses to use Dr. King to try to promote her hate-filled rhetoric.

It's a Rovian trick. But I hope the public has had enough of these people by now and their vile and disgusting behavior.

20. Excellent, Ms. Palin. Let's mark your words today and measure your deeds tomorrow.
Your commitment to a "peaceful and just nation" is now the standard by which we judge your every act.

You oppose gay marriage: does that position make the nation more "peaceful and just"?
You oppose health care reform: does that position make the nation more "peaceful and just"?
You oppose unemployment insurance for people who lost their jobs through no fault of their own: where's the "peaceful and just" nation in that position?
You have invented demons that don't exit eg "death panels": does that make the nation more "peaceful and just"?
You speak against people of non-christian faith: how will a more "peace and just" nation rises from that?

You get an "F" for the days behind you.

Let's see how you do tomorrow.
