Rick Perry's wife made a stupid (silver spoon in mouth) remark today
Edited on Sun Oct-16-11 08:58 PM by Liberal_in_LA
don't know if this was already discussed on DU. Probably was.

An unemployed man was explaining his plight to Perry's wife. She countered by comparing his plight to her son's saying her son had lost his job due to government regulations.

Reality, silver spoon in mouth son, had voluntarily quit banking job for employment with his father's campaign.
:nopity: :nopity: :nopity:

The clip was shown on national TV as evidence of how out of touch all these republican millionaires are.

:nopity:

1. They are so clueless. They just don't get it. They truly
can't comprehend. It's suffocating.

2. here is the article. She blamed Obama for son's unemployed.
http://blog.chron.com/rickperry/2011/10/perry%E2%80%99s-wife-blames-obama-for-their-son%E2%80%99s-unemployment/

“My son had to resign his job because of federal regulations that Washington has put on us. He resigned his job two weeks ago because he can’t go out and campaign with his father because of SEC regulations … My son lost his job because of this administration,” Anita Perry said, according to CNN.

-------------

Anita Perry was speaking in response to a question from a man who lost a six-figure salary and now works as a handyman, the station reported.

Surely he could relate to a guy voluntarily leaving Wall Street to help get his father elected, right?

9. Are you SURE she didn't say "let them eat cake"? -- Because
that's the vibe I'm getting. :scared:

She honestly feels she understands, and that her son has suffered as much as this man has. I can't imagine being THAT out of touch, but they are. :(

Another fantasy of mine, to make these people live like the people do, on what the people make, for about three months. Let them see what it's like to have to decide between blood pressure medication or food, rent or electricity, shoes for the kid or gas for the car. I'll say it again, they just don't get it.

Poor lousy kid. Born with the DNA of pterodactyls.

Edit: I meant to type "deep," honest.

11. No, I think "derp" was appropriate.
That's what I hear when one of these people speak: "herpy derp derp derpy herp."

14. Lol, cheers, Thav.
I figured my malapropism was too revelatory to conceal. The keystroke difference between "deep" and "derp" only struck me in an after-thoughtedly kinda way. :) For some reason, I found it funny. Cuz it's true.

8. Which one?
She's made so many dumb, silver spoon in her mouth remarks that it's hard to keep track of all of them. She's like Barbara Bush in that respect.

10. I betcha anything he quit his job to take a PAID position with dad's campaign.
Probably pays as much as, if not more than, his previous gig.

17. I cannot even post what I would like to see happen to these people and all the other like them
They do not have a fucking clue how the real world works. Fucking parasites breeding more fucking parasites who bleed the public and contribute NOTHING of actual value.

19. I don't actually want anything to HAPPEN to them
I just want them to understand what it's like for most people. Being born lucky and rich isn't in itself a loathsome thing, but deliberately choosing to be blind and uncaring is.

I would like for them to live like the 99%--or, more accurately, the 50% or 20% or so--long enough to understand that "get a job" or "save enough for an emergency fund" or "buy health insurance" isn't the solution they believe it to be.
