Closing the Gap: Retailer to shut a third of its stores
San Francisco-based Gap Inc., which generated sales of $14.7 billion last year, plans to cut its national fleet of namesake stores to 700, a 34% decline from the company's count at the end of 2007. The changes are expected to be completed by the end of 2013.

2. They built a 1.5 million sq Ft. distribution center in Fishkill....
its services 350 stores, guess it going to have some vacant space.

5. Hmm. The last time I was in a Gap store was in the late 90's in the mall under the WTC in NYC.
Never went back, because the market they were going after was not me. They just seemed to be going after the MTV crowd and minimizing their market by doing that.

9. They priced me out years ago, and I had to quit buying jeans there anyway
when they went with the low-rise, with micro-butt and ginormous-waist styling. I'm not apple-shaped, nor am I a pencil.
