Obama 'a little heartbroken' about NBA shutting down
Source: USA Today

President Barack Obama took a brief timeout last night to address the NBA labor situation.

At a fund-raiser in Orlando that was hosted by several NBA luminaries he joked that, "The reason I came here, I'm trying to resolve the NBA lockout. We need our basketball."

Taking a more serious tone, he added that he's "a little heartbroken that the NBA season is getting delayed."

Obama, according to TheHill.com, discussed the NBA lockout backstage with Dwight Howard, and said he hopes play will resume "soon."

2. Keep in mind . . .
This is a lockout by the owners, not a strike by the players. Yes, players are paid a lot of money to play basketball, but (1) they're the best players on the planet; and (b) there's a shitload of money in this industry. The owners want to take more of it for themselves, having written a bad contract last go-round, and rather than honor their commitment, they're in essence burning down the building. Both owners and players are doing rather well, but the owners feel they aren't doing well enough.
