Update: Occupy Boston police arresting peaceful Occupiers...
Edited on Tue Oct-11-11 06:09 PM by rasputin1952
I have just returned from Occupy Boston, Dewey Square; I spent the entire day down there doing interviews with various news outlets and taunting the BPD with the only Veterans for Peace flag left for Occupy Boston.

Let me say this right off the top, everything that happened was instigated by the BPD. The lies that came out for media digestion were perpetrated by police commissioner Ed Davis, as far as I'm concerned, (and expressed to every media outlet I spoke to), Davis is nothing more than an ape.

The VfP moved in front of the Occupiers to protect them, they were pounced on by Davis' thugs. One of the excuses was that "$150,000" worth of landscaping was going to be "destroyed" by Occupiers, this was blatantly false! At about 10 pm, I saw one plant that had been accidentally stepped on, and three Occupiers stating that it needed to replaced as they intended to leave the Greenway with only the sod being disturbed. Throughout the Occupation, Occupiers have been adamant about keeping the area clean and have collected enough money to reseed the area in the Spring. The Occupiers are extremely conscious of everything they do, and they are environmentally aware on just about everything they do.

The BPD destroyed the recently landscaped Greenway during their rampage, then, the ape, (Davis), blamed Occupiers for the destruction. Everything that came from BPD is a lie, (the latest being some officers were spit upon). The BPD has concocted stories to exonerate themselves from any blame. Occupiers were tossed to the ground, after the BPD knocked veterans down, to include a 74 year old that lost a filling and injured his leg during the take down. The American flag was the first to go down, and the BPD stomped all over it as they went ballistic. Watching some tear down and throw tents and personal belongings, it reminded me of Ghengis Khan's Mongol horde on a rampage. $300 worth of VfP flags were tossed into the trash truck, and a personal American Flag was confiscated, probably sitting in some cop's house as a "war trophy"...:grr:

One of the most despicable acts was the confiscation of prescription meds that were in the medical tents for safe keeping. How the BPD thought that taking Rx meds is somehow justified baffles me to no end. The thought that an inhaler, insulin, antibiotics or scheduled meds have anything to do with this arrest is completely insane, especially since many of the people these meds belonged to never got arrested. Imagine someone having to go to a Dr to try and get meds replaced w a/story like this. What gave the BPD any "right" to do this?

I will update as more comes forth. Everyone arrested has finally been released.

I have added a link to a realtime video shot by an Occupier. It's grainy, but what does one expect from the time this was taken.

2. "...$300 worth of VfP flags were tossed into the trash truck..."
That really sums up their attitude and actions and intent and belief system. I caught a minute's close-up of tents being tossed into the backs of multiple garbage trucks (they were there because police determined beforehand that they were going to throw everything out), and view from above as they cleared the entire park. Like locusts.

It is one of the single shittiest things I've seen in my long life of seeing particularly shitty things. Boston, you rock, your protest rocks, you are supported by the rest of the 99%. Thousands saw what happened and hundreds of thousands will be able to find the videos.

Attacking Veterans. ....what the fuck.

4. Is that the real reason the thugs threw out the protestors' stuff?
To destroy the evidence?

6. I think they were simply being, "efficient"...
the large tents that were tossed into the trucks were donated. Personal property was tossed, people were left w/nothing. It was a travesty.

8. You can buy a lot of shrubbery for $150,000
Makes me wonder about who's bread was buttered on that contract. Now look, they get to do it again.

10. This kind of action grows the movement
People are hungry, feeling hopeless, helpless. Drowning in debt. Jobless. Desperate. Our leaders seem as if they are on a different planet, blind and deaf to the real plight if Americans. There's an anger, a groundswell that should scare the bejeebers out of the ruling class.

Instead, they seem to think the coming catastrophes won't touch them. How can they be so deluded?

Every time a protester gets maced, clubbed or dragged off by a cop, another nail is driven into the coffin of corporate America.

14. Not to discourage such donations
But I believe BPD should pay to replace said flags, and all other supplies.

Perhaps someone can correct me, but do they not become liable to impound and later return for such items?

If I am speeding, and they arrest me do they get to throw away my car seat covers and the flashlight I keep in my dash box? If I jay walk and they arrest me do they get to throw out my jacket? BPD arrested these people, and I would think that leaves them responsible to impound their possessions, to be returned on release. Unless Flags, tents, etc are an illegal controlled substance of some sort that I am unaware of.

Hopefully this is a case where they got too cute by throwing it all away, making a mistake that can bite them in the ass.

15. Yes, BPD should pay,
It just looks bleak to me because their items were thrown into a trash truck. I do hope everyone can get their property back. Just awful.

16. The problem is the wheels of justice move slow.
Edited on Wed Oct-12-11 03:05 AM by Selatius
If it did come to court, Boston would likely lose the case, but they know that. What they're counting on is the fact that a protracted legal battle is, in more ways than one, draining on the plaintiff. What counts to the BPD is that the damage was done and done quickly, and there's no stopping that. For those who are poor, protracted legal battles are least affordable, and they know that as well.

20. Yes they should have all their belongings returned. Is there
an attorney in Boston that can stand up for the protesters?
Is there any attorney who will say to Bostons Mayor that the citizens of this Nation REFUSE to allow their democracy & the US Constitution to be undermined by a little wanna-be dictator!
Another bought & paid for politician, apparently.
The exact reason why thousands of people are gathering in protest.
Get It Yet?

I appreciate the concern my fellow DU'ers have shown. As time goes by, I'll have more info. I spent a long time doing interviews yesterday trying toi get the truth out, as the BPD has been controlling the message.

A navy Captain stopped by, (I recognized the sticker on his car, he was in civvies), and he dropped off several cases of bottled water, and thanked us...:D

25. It's tough having a conservative girlfriend
She lives near Boston, actually. She gave me the story pretty much exactly as it was told by Davis.

Hopefully we can get some more videos and pictures. Time to prove that Davis' notion of the truth is rather inaccurate.

26. Virtually evryone who was not there, is getting nothing more than...
BPD spin, and Davis is counting on that. I shook 200+ hands of people yesterday while I held the surviving VfP flag, and everyone was in favor of the Occupiers and VfP, support was overwhelming, (only a single individual gave me a hard time).

I was not there for the arrests, but I have been emphatic in interviews w/the media and others as to pushing the truth...the intervention was violent, and that violence and the damage that ensued is entirely the the fault of the BPD and the city of Boston.
