Woman wrongfully arrested, forced to listen to Rush Limbaugh (not the Onion)

In a lawsuit filed last week over the Oct. 4, 2010 incident, Bridgett Nickerson Boyd said her trouble began when she noticed her engine steaming and pulled over to the side of the highway, the Houston Chronicle reported. As she was pulling over, sheriff's deputy Mark Goad pulled behind her – and then arrested her for driving on the shoulder.

To make a bad day even worse, her heart began racing dangerously fast and she had to go to the hospital, according to the report. Goad followed her there – and then rearrested her once she was treated.

The final straw came when he then put her in the back of his car and cranked up the conservative talk show host – who was making "derogatory comments about black people" all the way to jail, Boyd charged.

All of the charges against her were almost immediately dismissed by a magistrate.

1. If someone forced me to listen to Limbaugh, I'd want them to get the death penalty. And I am against
capital punishment!

2. Waterboarding
if there was ever a call for it this would be it. If it was Michael Savage I'd add forcible removal of fingernails.

3. Arrested for driving on the shoulder?
With a broken down car? And we don't live in a police state?

6. The unkindest cut of all.

Cruel and unusual punishment. This didn't even approach due process.
She is due damages for having to listen to the OxyRush Bullshit Hour.

8. I agree she should get an award, but......
it should be no more than say $500,000,000 + legal expenses.

9. Listening to Limbaugh seems irrelevant: the policeman had her drive *herself* to the hospital. . .
Her condition evidently warranted a trip to the emergency room, yet rather than drive her there (he had already arrested her, so why he let her loose is very odd), the policeman let her drive herself in a car of questionable condition. So not only did he release a prisoner before she was processed, he let an ill person drive herself, which compounded the danger to the public since now a vehicle which probably shouldn't be on the road was being operated by a driver who shouldn't be behind the wheel!

Way too many questions about this to make any sort of reasoned opinion, so I think I'll leave it with my good wishes that Bridgett Boyd can resolve this to her satisfaction.

15. I'd like to see her sue
Any racist cop who arrests a person for pulling over when s/he has engine trouble as "driving on the shoulder" probably because the person is black needs to be relieved of his badge. A lawsuit would take care of that. Hit them in the wallet and they decide bigots aren't worth the money.
