Occupy Wallstreet Denver...
Edited on Sat Oct-08-11 10:05 PM by Buddyblazon
marched right past our venue today while we were loading in a band.

I walked right out to the end of the alley put my fists in the air and started screaming, "FUCK YA!!!!". Huge cheer from the protesters.

But that's not really the story. I noticed the Denver Police were calmly riding their mountain bikes on the street along side the protesters on the sidewalk. And they appeared to be being civil and calm and polite.

So, hours later, one of our off duty officers comes to work the show. I ask him how the protest went. "Great. Not a single problem.".

"Do you foresee any problems arising as this goes on?", I asked.

He replied, "No. I mean...I hope not. We don't want to bust anyone. And really, how can we not sympathize? I get their message.".

And we went on about the issues with wages the last 30 years and yada yada.

Union crew chief to Union Police Officer...it was a nice moment to know there is at least one police officer that feels the same pain we do. Through the conversation, I had this feeling that he kind of wanted to be out there marching.

I ended with, "You're Union...this venue is Union...how could we not be on the same side?".

He just nodded and said, "Absolutely.".
