Its Fleet Week in San Francisco, know how I know??
Edited on Fri Oct-07-11 04:54 PM by AsahinaKimi

Navy Jets flying in formation over my place, very, very low. Will be here till Monday. I was down at Fisherman's wharf earlier.. Saw recruiters for Army, Marines and Navy.. getting people signed up!!! Woooo for loud noises!!! ^^ Was a nice day down there.. I had some steamed clams and clam chowder at Pier 39. Haven't done that in a while!

1. What a photo!
I think I have the only four-legged friend in the whole city who doesn't care one bit about the Blue Angels. She sleeps through it :)

4. Those aren't just any Navy jets. Those are the Blue Angels.
One of the very finest aerobatic performance teams in the world. If anyone here has never seen them do their thing at an airshow, you really should. They're amazingly skilled.

7. Maybe Fleet Week is why the SF Cops Rousted the Peaceful Occupation and stole their belongings.
I love the city with all my heat, but right now in light of all the peaceful occupation all over the country, San Francisco should be ashamed.

23. I doubt that
the Federal Reserve Bank is a couple of blocks inland from the harbor, and nowhere near Fisherman's Wharf where everyone goes to see Fleet Week.

33. People watch the Blue Angels all over the city and in Marin
The SFPD has been brutal with some of the BART protesters. The BART protests have been keeping them all revved up for a riot-geared roust. They took all their belongings, phones, puters, meds, tents, warm clothes and bedding. I don't rally know if fleet week and the roust are related, I am just steamed, and ashamed for my favorite city on earth.

He gets a little freaked by the loud pass overs. Friday though Monday, and the Wharf is packed. I would say SF will be doing a lot of business this weekend.

22. I know right...
Just once in a while, I have to break away from normal style eating, (Chow mein, turkey sandwich..) and go have a bit of heaven! Yum! I don't know why the Sour dough I buy, does not taste as fresh.. maybe they just sell day old bread in the Supermarket. At any rate, since Boudin's is right there, you get fresh bread straight from the oven!

I've been sorting my CA photos for the past few days and reliving the trip. If you want, I can send you a link to the pictures when I get them posted at my Smugmug site. I think our best day was walking through the Presidio Park and the fort under the bridge. Just a magical day with the fog and sun. Absolutely beautiful.

Once many years ago when I was a "hippie chick" living in SF I accidentally found myself wandering around the Presidio one afternoon in an altered state of consciousness. The MPs who found me politely but firmly made sure I knew I wasn't supposed to be there. It's nice to come back now and wander around freely. It's such a beautiful part of the City.

27. A couple of year ago I was driving up the coast and decide to stop and walk out
on the bridge since I hadn't visited for a while. I had no idea it was Fleet Week until those jets came right over my head from behind, pretty much just like your picture. Startled the snot out of me...

I was up once in the TransAmerica Pyramid building when they flew by one year..the whole building shook..and I was right by the window, looking out onto Columbus Avenue. It rattled the windows! Pretty scary if you don't expect it!

yeah, kinda like this..

He was one of a handful of kids selected at his school to view the Blue Angels from a rooftop in Pacific Heights. Should be fun for him.

neighborhood in Oakland. My next door neighbor's little boys were impressed, so was I.
