Rubio shuts door on VP nod
Florida Sen. Marco Rubio says he's not going to be the GOP vice presidential nominee in 2012 because he's focused on being a U.S. senator.

Speaking at a political forum in Washington, Rubio said flatly: "I'm not going to be the vice presidential nominee." He then repeated himself.

Rubio said he didn't run for the Senate "to have a launching pad for another job."

The Cuban-American Rubio had been seen as a potential draw for the critical Hispanic vote.

It's important to bear in mind that politicians make all kinds of declarations that they then revisit - Rick Perry wasn't running, Haley Barbour probably was - in the name of service. But that line about the Senate as a launchpad is a bit hard to walk back.

No Palin, no Christie, - what will the nuts left onstage have to do to get the nod?

4. Rubio knows the score
No one in the GOP pack is a breakaway candidate, and it looks like Mitt is not going to so much cruise to the nomination but stroll to it (meant to signify not generating a lot of excitement). As much baggage as Obama has right now, none of the current crop has what it takes to take him out; Rubio knows it.

12. Corrupt is correct in regard to Rubio. Republicans that have a lick of sense would avoid him. nt

17. Not good news. Rubio is corrupt. He won't bring Florida and would loose other states.

Rubio would be a sinking weight at the ankles of the Presidential candidate for his party. Having Rubio out means that republicans can slide in a slick snake like McDonald into the slot, making the republican ticket harder to beat.

9. this doesn't mean anything, i think almost anyone asked to be VP would say yes
it's a little different from deciding whether to run for president since there is a chance you might not even win the nomination.

but being vp candidate you are already gauranteed to be on the final ballot and there is already a campaign structure with major party backing .

10. Rubio see what is happening to Rick Perry.
Perry raised 18 million dollars in a quarter, but most of that was raised before his lead shoes became obvious. Perry won't repeat that feat. Rubio has major ethical problems in his recent past, serious ethical problems that will reveal the slime that he is once that past goes under the searing light that a national campaign brings.

Poor Rubio, a 1-termer with no future.

You're supposed to wait to be asked before you turn it down.
That's the way it is supposed to work, Rubio.

Same state, cannot run with Jeb on a BushCo ticket.
