I would thus submit that Mr Romney shall be the Republican nominee, and. given his lackluster standing in the eyes of the nutters, Mr Obama will most certainly advance to a second term, albeit via lesser margins than in 2008. Which shall please me greatly. (I suspect that most Britons will share in this pleasure.)

I think you'll have many intelligent things to say, and I for one look forward to reading them!

3. I think your analysis is accurate
And, as much as the nitwits on the extreme right will complain about it, Willard will be the GOP nominee. If you thought there was an enthusiasm gap among the Democrats in 2010 (and there was, most assuredly), there will be an enthusiasm canyon for the Republicans in 2012 if Mitt is at the top of the ticket. The Democrats should have no trouble exposing Multiple Choice Mitt's career of flip-flops, so much so that even Mitt may wonder if he should vote for himself.

6. This just means they will double down on the states, trying to gain
more statehouse seats...

They will also spend like drunken sailors on shore leave to retain the House and to possibly take over the Senate.
