23. And this is what the "Pro-life" movement is all about
Subjugation of women. If they end abortion, the next thing they will go for is birth control. Do you honestly think this was ever about abortion? It's NEVER been about abortion. It's about the erosion of women's rights.

Misguided women buy the idea that it's about "abortion" but for many of them, it's about sex. They don't realize that they are getting played by the age-old patriarchy of religion that says that men are more valuable than women.

Gawd, I oughtta know better than to even look at this kind of shit from old fuckers that have nothing at stake in the discussion.

I don't know where this photo came from, but to me it is obvious that this is satire. The signs are just waay over the top. And the "priest?" No genuine priest would advocate killing women -- not unless he wanted to be kicked out of the priesthood real quick. Not even right-wing priests like Wade Mendez and Frank Pavone advocate what is on those signs. And take a good look at how he is dressed: At the risk of sounding like Elle Woods, a Catholic priest doesn't wear a black cassock, even while saying Mass. That garment is for altar servers, and a white surplice is worn over it. A real priest would wear black pants, a black shirt with a Roman collar, and perhaps a black suit jacket. He wears vestments over that for Mass. And he certainly wouldn't wear brown suede shoes. Let go of the pearls, folks -- these people are merely satirizing the pro-life movement taken to its logical extreme, "Onion"-style.

that the whole, entire anti-abortion argument is built firmly on a foundation of the rankest misogyny.

Most of the time it's dressed up in camouflage -- "right to life" or concern about the unborn "child" and other self-deceptions -- but at base it's rank misogyny and NOTHING else. Always was, always will be.

And yes, of course women can be misogynists. and many are. We have a society that teaches its members to hate and despise, discount and minimize women and women's concerns (including their children, except when viewed as property), women are not immune from those teachings!! In fact, the whole point of all those "consciousness-raising" groups and events so many years ago (and desperately needed again / still) was to shake women loose from their conditioning so they could SEE how society worked against them and taught them to work against one another, themselves, and their entire sex.
