Or Professor Dukakis that is. I'm a public policy student here and he teaches a class during the winter quarter.

Nice guy. He smiled and said hi.

Go Bruins!

1. Always liked him, his manner, but I am a huge fan of his sister Olympia.
One of the best actresses around...

18. Back during Watergate, there was a show on PBS called the
Advocates. They discussed a topic in a panel sort of way with half of the greatest political people of the past fourty years. It was awesome. One side defended Nixon and the other side didn't. The lawyers on the senate committee were part of it. AWESOME SHOW! Dukakis moderated it. Never missed it. My whole family and I.

4. Caucused for him...
...and was a state convention delegate for him. Historians will be kinder to him than the comedians ever were.

5. I've met Michael and Kitty Dukakis several years ago.
Nicest people you could ever meet. They were gracious, well-mannered, and sweet. Prof.Dukakis gave a fascinating speech, and I was extremely impressed with his knowledge and intelligence.

9. And yet the unwashed masses follow an idiot
Edited on Thu Jan-13-11 08:28 PM by Cleita
like Sarah Palin, make a drunk, John Boehner, Speaker of the House who is only three times removed from the Presidency and let a meat head muscle man, Arnold Schwarzenegger, become Governor of California. I come from a culture that admires a person of intellectual ability, education and good manners like Michael Dukakis. I don't get it.

...enough persons nervous to elect a president. Enough people fear and resent education to elect bold ignoramus president.

2008, more and more, resembles a miracle.

13. Pity, because it's turning a country that had so
much potential back when we elected JFK, into a wasteland, not only of third world type problems but ideas as well.

8. I've seen him sitting quietly having lunch at LuValle
It's somewhat disconcerting to see a former presidential nominee sitting there with commoners like me

11. Especially if he's eating at LuValle.
The chicken teriyaki at Jimmy's just doesn't do it for me.

12. Green Line - D Branch
I would often see the Governor heading home to Brookline when I worked in downtown Boston. He was known for riding that particular trolley. Small man, unassuming, but always eager to participate in a good political discussion. Made that part of the commute we shared pleasurable and enlightening.

17. I used to work in Brookline not far from where he lived.
People told me that he always walked down by the river there, picking up trash as he walked.
