that they will elect a half-bright, knuckle-dragging, Texas shit-kicker. I thought John Kerry would crush George Bush. I mean OBLITERATE him! An erudite, thoughtful Senator, and a genuine war hero to boot vs a drunken, AWOL, frat boy, cheerleader? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? And yet it happened. I look at and listen to Perry and think, "Oh, for shit's sake, who could possibly vote for a congenital idiot who proudly wraps himself in a cloak of stupidity?" Then I remember that tens of millions of our fellow citizens voted for Bush, and I feel a cold chill wash over me.
Anyone who sits this one out, or who claims that there's no difference between the parties anymore needs to be ready to explain how we wound up with a Supreme Court on which "Fat Tony" Scalia is considered a centrist; and the FDA, EEOC, SEC, and Civil Rights Division of the DOJ are just footnotes in a history text.
The perfect is not the enemy of the good, and the good need not always be the enemy of the not-so-good. But they ALL need to be the enemy of the unthinkably execrable.

The only reason why Perry won't fade as quickly is $$$. He has a lot. But so did several people in '08, and McCain came back in the end.

I suspect that Perry will fade as well. Remember, there are 4-5 absolutely ruthless, back stabbing, hate-driven, embittered people who think that they can and will beat out Perry. They have staffs doing nothing but reading his book, reading his speeches, and picking through his hysterical political claims while taking a close look at his performance.

For starters, he's not a Congressional representative. It's been a very long time since someone leaped from the House of Representatives to the Presidency. Also, he was elected twice from a major state, that's something Bachmann can't fake.

The only one that has a shadow of a chance of beating Perry is Romney, and the fundies just will not vote for him, no matter how idiotic Perry is made out to be.
