SF - the clothing optional city
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/djsaunders/detail?entry_id=97587&tsp=1

UPDATE: Reader Kevin Keyser sent me an email about this exchange between KRON video journalist Stanley Roberts and a naked guy who called him the n-word. This video gives you a good idea about who these naked guys are. Warning: Ugly stuff.

1. Translation: "News outfit with an agenda harrasses naked people
and -surprise!- the naked people get irritated."

Oh, I know, they're just making it impossible for families with their children to enjoy the Castro :nopity:

If you or your family is going to melt upon seeing a naked human, go to Des Moines, then.

4. Debra J. Saunders (linked in the OP) is vile right wing propagandist.
The racist in the video is vile also and, true to form, Debra uses him to smear all the naked guys.

3. There are assholes in every group.
Funny thing was, when I was watching the video, the moment it flashed onto that old guy I just knew he was going to be the one to go off. I don't know why, but I could tell right away that he was an asshole. A split second later, he proved me right.

As for proving "who these naked guys are"...I counted four nudists, and one naked asshole. Four of the five people without clothing had nothing but smiles on. The fact that one apparently got off by proving that his ass doesn't stop at the top of his crack is hardly an indictment of the rest.

People who may not have wiped their butts properly wandering around town and sitting on park benches? Gross.

23. Meh. No offense, but as an ex-Bay Area resident, SF's vaunted weirdness is overrated.
Honestly, when I think of San Francisco these days I think of Lexus-driving yuppies fighting over the last parking space in Noe Valley.

You want REAL weirdness, come to Portland.

28. still no parking, though.
I've done both places, now. Trust me- as an impartial observer, Portland is weirder.

21. Think of the pigeons!
By the way, did you read the story in New Scientist
about a month ago that was describing how, in winter, most
of the bacteria city folk breath in comes from dog shit?

9. That's why I live across the bay. Beautiful city. I visit every now
and then or when friends or relatives from out of town come to visit. They always want to go to the Castro.

10. I haven't read the column...
...and I'm not particularly fond of the idea of naked people prancing around outside, largely due to health issues.

However, Debra Saunders is not only a right-wing shill but is rarely able to form a coherent argument for or against anything at all. A real lightweight. I've never understood why she is able to keep her job at the Chron. Seems they'd be able to get someone with a bit more intellectual firepower. She's not even worth rebutting most of the time, she's so weak.

Just FYI.

Seriously. None of those dudes was doing anything even remotely resembling a prance.

It was kind of jarring to hear it right after the symphony of "bleep -- bleep -- bleep".

26. I find public nudity outside of private nudist hang-outs to be disgusting.
If that makes me a backward knuckle-dragger to some folks I don't really give a damn.

And it seems that most nudists are the kind of people that one does NOT want to see nude. :puke:

27. This would never happen in Texas
Sitting on a metal seat out in the sun in 105 degree weather is a good way to cook your eggs.

Don't ask me how I know these things.
