If Israel were to attack Turkey (hypothetically)
We would be legally obligated to declare war on Israel (thanks to the NATO treaty)......this is why I don't think anything is going to happen between the two countries.

1. Even if Israel attacked Turkey, we still wouldn't defend Turkey even though they are a NATO member
AIPAC wouldn't let it happen. The politicians in Washington DC are beholden to Israeli interests.

2. we didn't do anything when Greece and Turkey fought a war over Cyprus.
And they were BOTH NATO allies.

Treaties don't mean shit to America; just ask any American Indian tribe.

3. Let me check the tournament brackets
It can't happen until the Quarter-Finals - and only if Turkey gets past South Korea or Australia.

9. It's unclear how long Turkey will remain in NATO
Alignments are shifting.

There is no more discussion in the media about Turkey joining the EU. There have been articles in the Turkish media about how good it is that Turkey is not a member of the Eurozone.

Turkey is shifting its foreign policy towards being a non-aligned regional leader.

10. So you think the US would be more likely to respond to an attack on NATO than on itself?

11. Precisely
Attacks can be constructed to look defensive and of course completely ignored as was this one.

It still needs a complete and open investigation.

12. Just like we were legally obligated to declare war against Argentina in 1982.
Same situation applies due to treaties in force with both countries.
