Judge bans company from fundraising in Iowa
DES MOINES, Iowa — A judge has banned a professional fundraiser from soliciting donations in Iowa.

A Polk County judge ordered the ban against Michael and Vicki Davies of Waukee on Friday. The couple owned Lino's Inc., of West Des Moines, which conducted telephone fundraising for eight non-profit organizations in other states.

No telephone listing for the Davies could be located.

The Iowa attorney general's office says the organizations signed contracts with Lino's allowing the company to keep 80 to 85 cents of every dollar raised.

The attorney's general's office says telemarketers engaged in deceptive fundraising pitches, including lying about how much of each donation would go to the charitable organization.
