Mayor Bloomberg is impressive
He was just on in Coney Island and he was detailed, exact, and not an insult to my intelligence which is rare these days.

The planning appears to be expansive and complete. He had to have mentioned 5 times "mass transit will not be available in 2 and a half hours"

1. I liked the way he pushed on the fact that people should be mobile now
and not waiting till later

2. I've been impressed, too. However....
Although I give him major props, his Spanish always makes me giggle.

4. Well, I guess you answered me down below...
My Spanish is poor, but to my ear he sounds reasonably good. Of course the comparison is against Bush's mangled Spanglish, so clearly anything sounds better.

3. I agree... I also appreciate that he is apparently fluent in Spanish...
He can't reach out to each of the language-specific ethnicities in NYC, but I do like that he makes the attempt for the largest subgroup. I'm not fluent in Spanish, but to my ear it sounds pretty good. Certainly better than the mangled Spanglish that Bush* always bragged about.

5. The Spanish is good - just an interesting dialect
I learned from a very stuffy and strict Castillian instructor and it always stuck in my dialect memory. Actually, my now quite limited Spanish sounds a bit more like the Mayor's, which is another reason for me to giggle.

8. Like some others, he had no chance of winning the Democratic primary...
so the Republicans offered him the job.

Usually, the Democratic primary is the real election in NYC, but La Guardia, Lindsay, Ghouliani and maybe a couple of others snuck in when the Democrats couldn't agree on a strong enough candidate.

9. One thing I've always noticed about him
Whenever he comes to a podium, he does it with an entourage. Every other politician is there singly, but Bloomie always has a mob of people around him.

hope he takes care of the homeless underground too, and offers them safe shelter.
