Does congressional approval rating affect the Presidential race? As I go back through this article, there are fewer and fewer polls taken. It appears that over the laws 20 years, polling has played a bigger and bigger part of poltics, but not Congresses disapproval.
Congress and the PublicIn 2008, when Democrats held Congress, they had a low of 70% and a high of 76% disapproval. A Democrat won the election.
In 2004, when Republians Controled Congress, they had a low 46% and a high of 50% disapproval. A Republican won the election.
In 2000, when Republians Controled Congress, they had a low 34% and a high of 52% disapproval. A Republican won the election.
In 1996, when Republians Controled Congress, they had a low 49% and a high of 65% disapproval. A Democrat won the election.
In 1992, when Democrats Controled Congress, they had a 78% disapproval. (There was only one listed poll) A Democrat won the election.
