When even Halperin has to admit that the right want Obama's speech tonight to fail, the debate is not about country but the RWs assuming that only their ideological agenda is legitimate.

3. The right makes EVERYTHING partisan

The President will make statements tonight along the lines of wanting us to come together, on both sides of the aisle, to have a conversation about civil discourse. The right will take that as a direct attack on them. Why? Because they are paranoid that the left is always out to get them, because they are too egotistical to admit that they've ever made mistakes, and because they need to keep their base riled up and angry otherwise they won't donate money to the RNC and they won't vote.

Republicans NEED a toxic environment, which brings out the worst in people, for their type of politics to survive.
