Someone explain this to me :
Edited on Tue Aug-23-11 10:54 AM by UndertheOcean
Why is Israel after any alteration almost immediately slapped with UN council resolutions and statements , while it took 5 to 6 months of systematic killing in Syria (2,200 people died , how many Palestinians did Israel cause the death of in 60 years ?? about 3k to 4k)
for the UN to even begin to move adequately.

what gives , why the double standard.

1. They were still trying to find Syria on the map.

2. Fair question
I think that, outside the United States, there is a perception that Israel is controlled by the United States. Ironically some Americans believe Israel influences too much American policy. Reality is that Israel is an ally of the United States, and there is a lot of hatred towards the U.S., so it is projected upon Israel.

Syria, you must remember is backed by the Russians and Chinese, whom both were reluctant to support the invasion of Libya. The Russians wanted to build naval basis in Libya to project their power in the region, and the Chinese to increase their influence on the African continent.

3. The security council members spoke
immediately about Syria. If you missed that, it is your fault. I heard and read about it.

When country has internal strife, the UN always tries to limit death and destruction, but with a more hands off policy. When one country actively bombs and strafes innocents in cold blood, like Israel, they react quickly. as it should be.

4. links ? When was the first resolution about Syria pass , and when did the strife start ?
I am not defending Israel , just pointing out that the body politic does not seem to be purely motivated by justice ??
