4. Three reasons.
1) lazy, low-information voters
2) extreme GOTV by the republicans
3) "clever" vote counting

9. There's a fourth reason.
24/7 hate radio. Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, et al. are all found on the radio dial rather easily across the rural country. You can probably find as many radio stations broadcasting right-wing propaganda commentary as you would if you were searching for country music stations in the South.

20. Kinky Friedman split off votes. Perry didn't get a majority of the votes.
And our governors election was not held in a presidential election year which might have gotten more democrats out to the polls.

14. A lot of my friends have posted that very picture...
A lot of my friends have posted that very picture on Facebook. And a lot more laughed about it-- even a large handful of GOP faithfuls (we're all Texas guys and gals...).

I think Perry is beginning to be seen as an embarrassment by the establishment.

22. They must like him. They keep electing him. Then, they turn around and complain about him!
Edited on Wed Aug-24-11 07:07 AM by Liberal_Stalwart71
It makes no sense.

Randi spent several days on this:

1. Only 38% of the Texas electorate vote!
2. Only 18% of eligible women voters participate in elections. And meanwhile, Perry has attacked reproductive rights in every form.

I maintain this belief that if people don't get out and vote, they have no one to blame but themselves. I'm not saying this as some kind of elitist. I'm saying this because my parents and grandparents and great grandparents were active in trying to extend voting rights for themselves as black Americans. Our anger should drive us to the polls and keep us there until we vote. This is our right as citizens and should not be taken for granted or pissed away.
