DES MOINES—Sen. Barack Obama touted his support of family farms against corporate agriculture this morning by taking a couple of shots at two very big Illinois businesses, ag processor ADM and food producer ConAgra.

Delivering a populist-themed speech to the Iowa Farmers Union, the Illinois senator slammed a Washington culture that he said paid heed to corporate agricultural lobbyists over individual farmers........more

Then he said ; "We'll tell ConAgra that it's not the Department of Agribusiness," the Illinois Democrat said. "It's the Department of Agriculture. We're going to put the people's interests ahead of the special interests."

But, starting with his choice for USDA Secretary, the pro-biotech former governor of Iowa, Tom Vilsack, President Obama has let Monsanto, Dupont and the other pesticide and genetic engineering companies know they'll have plenty of friends and supporters within his administration.

President Obama has taken his team of food and farming leaders directly from the biotech companies and their lobbying, research, and philanthropic arms. THE LIST

Michael Taylor, former Monsanto Vice President, now the FDA Deputy Commissioner for Foods. Roger Beachy, former director of the Monsanto-funded Danforth Plant Science Center, is now the director of the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture,
Islam Siddiqui, Vice President of the Monsanto and Dupont-funded pesticide-promoting lobbying group, CropLife, is now the Agriculture Negotiator for the US Trade Representative.......... THE LIST GOES ON AND ON AND ON and it gets worse.

"Uh, that whole thing about 'people over special interests'? Hee hee hee ... that's funny. Always is when they think they're in charge. Kennedy thought that too . . . AHEM. No seriously, THIS is how shit's going to be done . . . "

4. The fox and the hen house!! What's he settin' up here?
You've heard the old saying "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer."

He's keeping his enemies closer but he doesn't have the control to stop a coup!

6. He's right, until the special interests tell him otherwise.
The reality is that the special interests run the show and there's nothing any politician can do about it.

10. We elect congress and they vote for special interest
THIS SEEMS TO BE A MAJOR DISCONNECT:

We vote for our "elected officials"

THEN

Our elected officials vote the way the special interest groups pay them to vote.

What happened to "WE THE PEOPLE"

What happened to ONE VOTE FOR EACH PERSON

We need to get the money part of this thing under control

How can Bernie Sanders stay focused when everyone around him is making so much money????

this system totally sucks!!!!
