"A term of derision used (usually on blogs) by supporters of U.S. President Barack Obama in arguments with people who criticize Obama and other Democrats from the political left. The term is a conflation of "Teabagger" the term of derision used to describe right wing Tea Party activists and Firedoglake, a left-leaning political blogging community founded by Jane Hamsher."
I think the person who wrote the second definition has it right.
Mostly it is an easy way to silence criticism from the left and a staff member of OFA recently sent an email to read a blog that just continues to allienate people.
Obama Campaign Email With Criticism of Krugman, Liberal Blogs Triggers Ire
http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2011/08/obama-c... "A controversial email from an Obama campaign staffer in New Mexico to statewide supporters earlier this month highlights the ideological divide on the left over the debt ceiling deal, while raising the ire of the president's most liberal critics. On Aug. 1, just hours after Congress approved the bipartisan deal, Obama for America New Mexico State Director
Ray Sandoval sent out an email blast with an attached blog post that he said “does a great job of explaining the Debt Ceiling deal.” The article, penned by Spandan Chakrabarti of “The People’s View,” is largely an annotated summary of the legislative package, which he calls an “out and out win for the president,” including links to the White House website and explanations of the super committee process and the ensuing triggers (automatic cuts) if it doesn’t reach a deal.
But it’s Chakrabarti’s words for some of the president’s Democratic critics that pack the real punch.
He calls Nobel Prize winning economist Paul Krugman a “political rookie” and refers to other detractors of the compromise the “Firebagger Lefty blogosphere” who he believes are all misguided in their assessment of deal..."Hippie Punching

http://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/08/18/hippie-punc... "Via Greg Sargent, I learn that some people in the Obama campaign really, really dislike people like me, who complain when the president gives in to GOP blackmail.
Well, at least they’re paying attention.
I would say this: on one side you have the GOP, which responds to completely crazed Tea Party demands by doing all it can to assure the hard right that it’s on its side. On the other, you have the Democratic establishment or at least part thereof, which responds to complaints from its own base that it’s going too easy on the crazies by lashing out at the base, with a bit of bearded-professor bashing on the side.
Way to strengthen your bargaining position, guys."Score one for the professional left

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/ezra-klein/post/sco... "Greg Sargent has a nice take on the e-mail an Obama campaign official sent mocking Paul Krugman and the “firebaggers.” But whenever I read these periodic eruptions about “the professional left,” my main thought is: if I were a member of the professional left, I would be stoked.
Paul Krugman is one op-ed columnist. Firedog Lake is one Web site. They have readers. But they are not the state of Ohio. Time and again, however, we see evidence that they have gotten deep inside the White House’s head. In letters, in offhand comments, in outbursts at press conferences, in my personal reporting, members of the Obama administration and members of the Obama reelection campaign will let slip that they are dwelling and worrying over these arguments. They may not agree with them. They may not think they’re fair, or sophisticated, or useful. But they’re thinking about them. And if you’re the “professional left,” that’s exactly what you want."
