1. Because he's pro-Wall Street, anti-Union and dumps regularly on anything Liberal.
That's a lot of what causess our problems today. It's also not what being a Democrat is about, as far as I'm concerned.

2. In my opinion, he's an equal opportunity political operative.
Not even close to being liberal, or even a (D), unless it suits his needs (and net worth) at that very second.

3. Because he's not a liberal. And they/we would've preferred one in his place.

4. Because he is fantastic at self-promotion, and terrible at everything else.
Edited on Thu Aug-18-11 01:40 AM by jeff47
Unfortunately, the former has resulted in people listening to his advice. Resulting in the latter.

6. Rahm Emanuel = $18 million in 3 yrs on Wall St. As Corporate Raider (think looted pension funds....)
Edited on Thu Aug-18-11 02:30 AM by amborin
Obama’s Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, collected $18 million working less than three years at Wall Street outfit Wasserstein-Perella. I don’t think, after googling the firm, that anyone has adequately explained just what Wasserstein-Perella is. (I was writing about this stuff back in the late 1980s, so I know.) Bruce Wasserstein was one of the top leveraged buyout bandits of the 1980s, when America’s industrial companies were literally asset stripped and ripped apart. The amount of human misery Bruce Wasserstein caused with his "financial engineering" in former industrial towns from Akron to Zanesville is simply beyond imagination, but not exaggeration. After making a few billion ripping apart our country’s industrial base and looting pension funds, Wasserstein became head of Lazard Freres, the secretive but extremely powerful international private banking firm that was long a fiefdom of Felix Rohatyn, the ass-hat who "saved" New York City in the 1970s."

11. Because he's not an ultra-liberal. He has some liberal attitudes, but his overall stance
is moderate. He likes social programs AND paying the bills. He's not afraid to partner with corporate America, which is perceived as an enemy by some.

He's also ruthless, he does not take shit or suffer fools, he can be mean, and he is successful, and since he's not holding up the side of the left and further left, he's regarded negatively by them.

Since you apparently weren't paying attention, he makes a habit out of insulting liberals, like calling us "fucking retards".

Also, for very similar reasons I criticized Republicans ten and twenty and thirty years ago.

27. 'Cuz he's a ham-fisted thug bent on bullying anything progressive to serve his corporate overlords
How fucking hard is that to understand?

He's spent his entire adult life in legislative politics except for the three year hiatus he took as an investment banker, where he made something like 18 Million dollars. He arm-twisted liberals for the alleged "health care" legislation, and he has a consistent record of ratfucking anyone who's not a corporatist appeaser.

Why?

How can anyone even come up with such a question?

Even for a provocative bomb-thrower, you're quite impressive.
