Konawa man arrested for IED found on Oklahoma pipeline
Anyone else catch this story of domestic terrorism?

SHAWNEE, Okla. — James E. Finch, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI, Oklahoma City Division, announced Friday the arrest of Daniel Wells Herriman, 40, of Konawa, for attempting to destroy real property used in interstate or foreign commerce.

According to a criminal complaint filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, an improvised explosive device (IED) was found attached to a gas pipeline at the Enerfin Resources gas pipeline near Okemah. The device was removed and rendered safe by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Bomb Squad.

On the evening of Aug. 10, the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from Herriman. He told the 911 operator he placed the IED on the pipeline. A search of Herriman’s residence resulted in law enforcement finding items consistent with the components of the IED found on the gas pipeline. Herriman was arrested in Seminole County Friday without incident.

This incident was investigated by the FBI, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Okfuskee County Sheriff’s Office, and the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office. The public is reminded this arrest is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

Was this in CorpMedia? I don't recall this story being "reported."

How about that last sentence: "The public is reminded this arrest is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty." Does this mean we can't waterboard him? We wouldn't want the smoking gun to be a mushroom cloud...

2. Daniel Wells Herriman
does not sound like a Muslim name. It would be front page Washington Times, WSJ and FOX News if it were.

4. So he placed the bomb
then called 911 and told them that he'd done it. Weird.

5. According to other reports,
he identified himself to 911 after the bomb was already found.

I guess newsprint writers think that using army jargon makes them hip or cool or something. "I'm Ernest Pyle, LOL!"

10. It was noted here on DU with a local media report.
I remember it especially because I posted on it, mentioning Woody Guthrie, who was from Okemah.

11. Interesting treatment for a "terrorist"
"for attempting to destroy real property used in interstate or foreign commerce."

Terrorism charges are apparently reserved for antiwar and environmental activists making peaceful public protests.

"The public is reminded this arrest is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty."

I'm gonna be REAL surprised if this guy turns out to be anything other than a right-wing "lone wolf".

When's the last time you saw the media saying THAT? Assange? Strauss-Kahn? Weiner?

12. I went to Washington Elementary and Junior High in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
I know the area.

There is a lot of sentiment for militias and in the region. Even when I was a kid, it was ultra Conservative.
