Enthusiasm for Obama Drops Significantly in Latest Washington Post Poll
By: Jon Walker - FDL

<snip>

President Obama’s overall job approval numbers, while not great, remain decent in the latest Washington Post poll: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/polls/postpoll_080911.html The poll found that 44 percent approve of his job performance while 46 percent disapprove. While the total level of support remains little changed, the intensity of that support has dropped significantly.

For over a year Obama’s “strongly approve” numbers have been extremely stable, always between 24-30 percent. This newest poll found only 18 percent of voters “strongly approve” of Obama’s job performance. That is a seven point drop since less than a month ago, and by far the lowest level of “strongly approve” since Obama has been in office.

This is another sign that over the last several weeks the President has started to have real trouble with his base. Earlier this week a CNN poll http://elections.firedoglake.com/2011/08/08/increase-in-obama-disapproval-comes-from-growing-liberal-discontent/ found that the number of people who disapproved of Obama’s job performance because he is “not liberal enough” has doubled since May.

3. Your rationale for the constant attacks on President Obama are questionable.
Why don't you spend some calories attacking the republican Congress, or republicans that mis-use the filibuster capability in the Senate? Explain why you don't. Could you have hidden motives for your posts?

9. Why didn't Democrats do something about the filibuster when were
in a position to do so. People are growing tired of all the excuses as to why they can't get anything done. Meanwhile even in the minority, none of it seems to deter Republicans, in the minority or not. And why don't Dems filibuster? It's not just a tool for Republicans is it?

6. Yet more bullshit and lies from FireDogLake.
Trying to spin one statistic as "HUGE DROP IN SUPPORT! DEMOCRATS DOOMED! COMMIT SUICIDE NOW!"

Fuck FireDogLake and all the rest of the Republican enabler frauds like them.

12. Actually
while "strongly supports" is down 6 points from a month ago, "somewhat approve" is up 4 points and somewhat disapprove is down five points.

The net effect is 44 percent approve (down from 47) and 46 percent disapprove (down from 48).

Also, the number who would definitely vote for him is holding steady.

16. As you may know, Obama has announced that he is running for re-election in 2012. Would you say you will definitely vote for him, you’ll consider voting for him, or you definitely will not vote for him?

Definitely will: 20% (down 1 pt)

Will consider: 33% (up 3 pts)

Definitely will not: 44% (down 2 pts)

14. How's he polling with the 'Ex-Gay' crowd in South Carolina?
Are the next round of faith rallies being planned for this cycle? Will Marcus Bachmann join McClurkin in 'Bipartisan But Not Bisexual: The Musical' to pander for the votes of the 'faith community'?
These and other questions are yet to be answered.....
