Verizon picketer places daughter in front of oncoming truck, video shows

A video posted online appears to show a Verizon picketer placing his young daughter in front of an oncoming truck — presumably carrying non-union employees — and then taunting the passengers with profanity-laced statements.

"That's who you're hurting," the man says, pointing to the girl. "You're taking it from our family. Good job. Go back where you came from. Look at her face."

The video, posted on Monday, is a sign of the intensifying standoff between Verizon and roughly 45,000 of its union employees. The two unions, the Communications Workers of America and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, have been on strike since negotiations for a new three-year contract broke down early Sunday morning.

Despite informal talks today and on Monday, picketing events have continued to take place from Massachusetts to Virginia. In New Jersey, about half of the company's 15,000 workers have been picketing at locations across the state.

When workers cross picket lines they hurt ALL of us. Only by standing together can the workers in this country have any chance of a decent life for their families.

And I didn't talk like that in front of my daughter until she was 18 and I heard her use that type of language.

That's a Breitbart video and posted to make the union look bad. This was the actions of one individual. I'm sure the union isn't thrilled about it.

That is a standard technique in picketing.

The child was in no danger - her father was right next to her - the scabs were not trying to run her over


However, it is not something that I would have done with my kid - I do not think that kids should be used as props at protest events. Of course, my kid could not care less about anything unless it involves the Suite Life of Zach and Cody or Phineus and Ferb.

Kids can learn a lot watching a union picket line, watching the back-and-forth between the union workers and the scabs, learn a bit about politics.

21. On my motorcycles and cage I have dual 140db horns

It tends to help keep sleepy or aggressive drivers at bay. Been known to clear a few pedestrians as well.

Of course I have never used it to cross a picket line (I never violate one of them), but that kind of sound could well have an impact.
