This is what a 50 state strategy looks like
byGov Howard Dean MD

Last night, we were fighting on Republican ground. These were districts that elected Republican Senators in 2008, a year when Democrats swept the state.

We stood up for our core values. We never compromised on our belief that people have a right to organize and that Republicans were attacking that basic right.

We were told we couldn't win these Republican districts. We were told our values wouldn't resonate with conservative voters. We overcame all the odds to win two seats last night and came very close to winning a third, proving that there are Democrats everywhere and there are people everywhere who share our progressive values.

Democrats standing up for their core values and running to win in every district of every state, even so-called "Republican" districts -- That is what a 50 state strategy looks like and this is proof that we can win with one.

10. Do we need Dean or do we need core values -
I would argue that the Corporate Democrats have hijacked the party - until the Party reembraces its values, Dean won't make a difference....

and they fell to the floor and assumed the fetal position.

It could be beyond redemption it's so fucked up.

6. Most Democrats don't want to hear this message.
They would prefer to appease the conservatives. Progressives are bad for the Party.

7. I thought the 50 state strategy was a bad idea
because it requires the votes of us moderate Democrats, who are "not real Democrats," for it to work?

11. Two things
The amount of government involvement and the understanding of what is possible.

8. The one Democrat who gets it.
Mushy middle "independents" don't want mushy middle candidates.

They want candidates who make their case and believe it.

Candidates don't attract independents by running to the middle.

12. I hope Obama follows this advice
And doesn't try the Kerry strategy of just running in a few 'battleground' states with the hope of picking up just enough electoral votes to vin. That didn't work out so well for him or the party.

That said, I don't see it happening here in Georgia. The Democratic party seems to be pretty weak here and certainly isn't pushing for good candidates in each race.Maybe that will change.
