Axelrod: Tea party ‘brinksmanship’ to blame for credit downgrade
Axelrod: Tea party ‘brinksmanship’ to blame for credit downgrade
Posted on 08.7.11
By David Ferguson

David Axelrod, former campaign adviser to President Obama appeared on CBS’s “Face the Nation” this morning in a sometimes testy interview with Bob Schieffer on the subject of the debt ceiling debate and the lowering of the United States’ credit rating. Axelrod calls the tea party’s intransigence on ideological issues “a prescription for failure” and maintains that the far right’s “brinksmanship” is what’s to blame for the nation’s downgraded creditworthiness.

His comments echoed John Kerry’s remarks on NBC this morning referring to S&P’s change in the U.S. credit rating as the “Tea Party Downgrade”.

2. Axelrod and others need to explain to the people in detail why
detail needs to be given why and this needs to be repeated constantly. The Tea Party are clueless.

7. People know the truth when they hear it... however..
for them to hear it, the Democrats have to say it. Good job, Axelrod!

11. But he is saying the same things
(or almost the same) things that Senator Kerry is saying. He did not mention that the Tea Party and the GOP rolled into one as responsible for this mess. He did good, but the Senator did not?

12. On NBC, A Republican Said It Was A Good Thing That The Precedent Had Been Set...
...To use the debt ceiling vote as political leverage. Well, it appears as though the people who buy U.S. securities got the message.
