Poll question: Check in here if you are going to help occupy DC in October or if you're not...
http://october2011.org

Inspired by the courageous, nonviolent uprisings in Tunisia, Egypt, Bahrain, Yemen, Greece, Spain, and elsewhere, people in the United States have come together to form the October2011 Movement. This fusion of peace, social justice, environmental, student, and immigrant rights organizations is in solidarity with all who seek a peaceful, just, and sustainable future and stands ready to engage in its own campaign of nonviolent resistance beginning in Washington, D.C., this October.

It Can Be Done. Now is the Time. Americans Can Stop the Corporate Machine and Create a New World.

I have taken the pledge of nonviolence. I am starting to plan, trying to figure out how I can get there and how long I can stay.

I am not in good health. I have very little money. I am the primary earner for my family. I have a child.

I am also largely responsible for the fiscal survival of a small, local not-for-profit.

I, like many people, have a lot of excuses for not going to DC indefinitely.

Still, my choices are to do nothing or to figure what I can do and do that. I will stay as long as I can and I will bring as many people with me as I can.

Will you be there?

If you want to go “all in” but have reservations, fears, seemingly insurmountable obstacles, how do you feel about that? If you are going “all in,” how do you feel about those who will stay for a few days, and then go back to work and keep trying to feed their kids or pay their mortgage, or otherwise hold on to whatever there is to hold on to while you stick it out?

1. I would love to come,
but it's very expensive to fly from Alaska to DC.
