I want a viral petition/protest to take away the health care benefits of anyone
who fucking votes to slash Medicare, Medicaid or programs within the "Affordable Health Care Act."

I just read this from Eric Cantor and my blood is BOILING!

During an interview with the Wall Street Journal, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) said he is ready and willing to slash entitlements like Medicare, because, in his opinion, Americans have to “come to grips with the fact that promises have been made that frankly are not going to be kept for many“:

What we need to be able to do is to demonstrate that that is the better way for the people of this country. Get the fiscal house in order, come to grips with the fact that promises have been made that, frankly, are not going to be kept for many. <...> The math doesn’t lie.

(Emphasis in orig. Think Progress post.)

Why the fuck are we paying for gold-standard health insurance for this piece of shit while he so blithely tells us to come to grips with losing what pitiful tatters of healthcare we have?

FUCK YOU ERIC CANTOR! I want my damn taxes to go to people on Medicare, Medicaid, SS, food stamps, etc and NOT to you to pay for your innumerable benefits & perks, you fucking boil on the ass of humanity!

:grr:

1. I believe he gets a pension for life, too.
Edited on Thu Aug-04-11 12:37 PM by valerief
The pension amount is determined by a formula that takes into account the years served and the average pay for the top three years in terms of payment. In 2002, the average pension payment ranged from $41,000 to $55,000. For example, a member of Congress who worked for 22 years and had a top three-year average salary of $153,900 would be eligible for a pension payment of $84,645 per year.<3>

2. Too bad most of the Congress is already well off....
pensions like that shared out in the working class could help raise the average wage.:banghead:

3. I would say that Cantor being a jerkwad is hard work and he deserves money for nothing, but
in reality I think that being a jerkwad came naturally to this moran.

6. Okay, I will but need some help.....
I've never started a petition. I'm aware of the petition site but is there somewhere better? Is there a site that hosts petitions that actually get some notice? Something welcoming for progressives? What about change.org -- I'm wary of using a right-wing site!

I could start a facebook petition I guess (I found a "how to" on that one) but I'm not willing to do it on my account -- I'd have to set up a new account. As long as FB will let me do that, I"d be happy to do it that way.

7. I don't really know how to or I would do it myself.
Maybe somebody will come along who knows what to do.

5. Do petitions help? If so, I'll sign.
If not, what does help? Because this is an outrage. :grr:

9. I suppose maybe they do. I'm not sure when it's an online
petition, but hell, Bernie Sanders can do it, why not me? I just don't know. It's too hard to hide behind fake names, etc on online petitions so I'm not sure they really make a difference. MAYBE if it really does go viral and get tons of signatures, then maybe it'll get noticed. No freaking clue! I guess it can't hurt to try. Better than doing nothing.

We could also start a letter writing blitz. Tons of letters or emails might also get noticed. Or Du initiating a total blitz: emails, calls, letters, petitions and anything else creative minds can conjure up?

11. Okay, I selected Change.org -- they have mostly progressive, human rights,
civil rights, etc petitions on the site and some pretty good groups use it.

So, I need help. I need a pithy title to succinctly express the purpose of the petition. I absolutely SUCK at pithiness! I can write the purpose of the petition (and can actually do it without swearing!) but the title eludes me.
