My message to Bernie Sanders
Subject: How come they are getting away with lying?

Dear Senator Sanders,

Why is it that the republicans and tea partiers are getting away with lying about Social Security being the tax payers burden? Shouldn't lying to the public be some kind of punishable crime when it comes from those who have been given the public trust by being an elected official? I don't understand any of this and shouldn't even have to be worrying about it.

I am 62 and have and 80 year old mother who has Alzheimer's. She is dependant on her Social Security Medicare and Medicaid to keep her healthy and comfortable in the memory care unit in an assisted living facility.

The stress that the high drama dog and pony show that Congress put on this last month (last 10 years really) is enough to make me crazy. Is it possible for me to file a law suit for stress against the perpetrators of this massive con game? I'm serious, maybe then they would pay attention to what 'we the people' think, want and need.

Thank you for you time and all the good work you're TRYING to do for our country.

A fan and admirer,
faux pas

4. That's what I wanted to do all through the boosh years. Why
couldn't/shouldn't we? Aren't they messing with our lives, liberties and pursuits of happiness? Trying to take EVERYTHING away from us and GIVING it to business, wall street and banks? Maybe through the ACLU?

3. Holding the economy and the American people and the president hostage
in order to extort demands from them and then openly admitting it - ought to be a crime. But the "Tea Party" controls the supreme court too - so who's going to stop them?

8. would it have to go to the supremes? Why not suits filed
in all 50 states, a civil action for stress and false statements by public officials? Worry about criminal actions when there is a law about lying to the public.

5. I agree about the lying to the public.
At least over the public airwaves. The blatant lies that are told by republicans - and some democrats should be punishable. Why should they be able to use the public airwaves to lie to the public. They are almost always being shown lying during "news"casts which, unfortunately, no longer contain actual news...just "one side says this...but the other sides says that".
This so-called news confuses people who grew up thinking that "news" equals truth or facts. Not anymore.

7. I agree, outright lying by our politicians and media
should be a punishable offense.

It should be a fine that grows more steep, with each offense.

Should be an official fact check agency which checks this sort of things and issues out tickets.

Proceeds can help fund the government... You know what, that just might be a way to pay down the deficit in record time!
