Pat Buchanan
just used the phrase "your boy" to describe both Pres. Obama and Emanuel Cleaver on Rev. Al's show. Rev. Al called him on it the first time (re Obama) but not the second time (re Cleaver).

Pretty ugly.

4. Griffin should suspend him indefinitely. I really am upset about this.
The man is the President of the United States for god's sake. How dare he? I'm writing MSNBC and really complain about this. Disgusting. They suspend everyone else for so-called "I misspoke" statements. This goes way beyond that.

5. Yeah, having watched it live,
I think it was pretty obvious that he knew he was using a loaded word there. He did it intentionally. And Buchanan doesn't exactly have a spotless record on race going in to this incident.

6. Saw that. I'm disgusted more than ever with Pat B. This guy has to go.
He is decrepit and a racist thug. He needs to never be on cable or any other network news show. The "boy" stuff twice! The guy is drunk on power now that this charade has come to an end. He thinks he can say ANYTHING!

I think he is crazy...really, really crazy...

8. I actually think MSNBC
should have conservatives and Republicans on as guests more than they do. Usually the shows are nothing but echo chambers where every one of the four panelists agree with each other. They should have some other points of view on, just to make the shows interesting to watch, and also to expose, deconstruct and rebut the conservative talking points.

BUT - This particular conservative has no business being on the teevee. He really is a dinosaur, and it is embarrassing to have an obvious racist on a panel of commentators. Is he an "MSNBC contributor"? I just think that in his case, his views are beyond the pale and there is no reason to have him on.

7. I wrote Maddow and told her I'd never watch her again if she continued to host that racist ass. . .
And I didn't watch her, for over two years. No big loss - she was the only television news I was watching at the time. But someone here on DU told me recently that Maddow hasn't had Buchanan on in years so I started watching again, haven't seen him in a few months now, so I wrote her awhile back to thank her and let her know I'll continue to watch her show.

I don't believe Maddow wanted Buchanan on her show, but she was probably hamstrung, given she was still a novice back then. So it was her producers I was after. I think the carrot and stick is the only thing TV producers understand. There is no nuance. Only blunt force ("I won't watch anymore") coupled with quiet cajoling ("I appreciate what you've done and will reward you").

16. Here's the e-mail I just sent to MSNBC
Please let me introduce myself. I am a 65 year old white female, registere Independent, and loyal MSNBC viewer; however, my viewing habits are about to change, thanks to Pat Buchanan. I have had it with his bigoted, racist attitude and remarks. I have also had it with the fact hat he as remained employed at MSNBC despite his deplorable track record.

Tonight he crossed my line in the sand. Having grown up in the South during the '50's and '60's, I KNOW a racist dog whistle when I hear one. It is more than egregious that he would refer to the first black President of the United States as "boy".

How much more disparaging and demeaning does he have to be before he is fired. Would showing up in a white hood and a sheet do it? Is that what it will take before MSNBC wakes up to how offensive he is? How many viewers do you have to lose? How much revenue?

Bottom line: I love ed Schultz, Lawrence O'Donnell, and Rachel Maddow, but I, and many others will walk if Buchanan remains in your employ one more week. Give him his severance pay and bid him farewell or say goood-bye to your viewers. I stayed when you let Keith go, I stayed when you let Cenk go, but if Buchanan is there next wee, spewing his racist drivel, I'll boycott you and your sponsors, and your sponsers will know exactly why.

Please do yourselves and your viewers a a favor, and do the right thing.

Sincerely,

xxxxxxxx

18. Thank you.
I grew up with people like Pat. They're a blight, and one of the reasons I'm Pro Choice. If I had been Pat's mother, I'd have had his birth annuled! I might have differences with Obama, and I'm definitely a critic, but it's about policy, not race.

Also, his new book proclaims that war against Hitler was "unnecessary." He is obsessed with race as you can see with a quick scan of his blog:

27. BS!
Buchanan's intention was to demean the president of the United States. It doesn't matter how you try to slice it or dice it.

Buchanan has proven himself, again and again, to be a giant POS. Your defense of him is troubling.

28. .
I'm not defending anyone. I'm interested in honesty and fairness. Based on the video in the OP, and based on having heard the terms "your boy" and "my boy" used by men referring to other men in non-racial terms, I don't believe PB used the term in a racial manner. If this opinion troubles you, then I guess you'll just have to be troubled.
