NY State Fair unveils 1,500-calorie 'Donut Burger'
Edited on Sat Jul-30-11 12:38 AM by AsahinaKimi

SYRACUSE, New York (AP) -- Want fries with that ... doughnut?

A food booth in Syracuse will unveil the "Big Kahuna Donut Burger" at this year's New York State Fair.

For between $5 and $6, the adventurous eater will get a quarter-pound burger in between slices of a grilled, glazed doughnut. Toss on some cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato and onion and you've got yourself a 1,500-calorie meal.

America's state fairs can be counted on to provide foods featuring offbeat ingredient combinations. Wisconsin has chocolate covered bacon on a stick, you can get fried beer in Texas, Massachusetts provides fried jelly beans and North Carolina has the "Koolickle," pickles soaked in Kool-Aid.

New York's fair opens Aug. 25.

4. Not original to NY
The North Carolina state fair was doing this artery clogger last year. Not sure if it originated in NC. But NC is home to Krispy Kreme which is what the vendors were using. Not that being the home state of this is anything to be proud of. LOL

6. Does anyone go to a state fair wondering about nutritional value?
Look, I'm the most likely asshole to jump on this around here, but it's just stupid. OMG, meat/cheese/bacon/glaze...is glaze vegan? Doubtful. Evildoing donutmongers.

Fact is, folks go to a fair like this and eat shit. Can we please grind on something else?

8. I don't go to the fair looking to eat steamed veggies or tofu.
That said, the bacon makes it worth a try!
