Not unlike our "war of choice" in Iraq was.

The Republicans could end this in one swift stroke, however, some of them seem ready and willing to shoot the hostage. We want to save the hostage. That's why, unfortunately, they have the advantage right now. I don't think that history will judge the Republicans kindly on this.
