10. Why They Play The False Equivelency Game

This sad incident is not an easy one to deal with. It is an assasination of a Deomcratic congresswoman, but it's not clear of the motives other than the assasin appears to be a pyschotic loner. Any attempts to make a direct connection with the hate rhetoric of the right wing is pure speculation and projection at this point. Sorry, I'm not ready to join a lynch mob...I'll reserve judgements in this specific case based on the evidence.

That said, there is another issue involved here...the violent rhetoric and symbolism that has permeated right wing radio and political speak over the past decade. There is no equivelent on the left, period. Mixing something from the 60s to something today is disengenuous and the attempts to play the "both sides do it" is a lazy way out, but it's the corporate media's mindset and will remain that way. They profit from division...it pulls eyeballs to their screens for hours on end. No surprise that we hear the villagers and stenographers playing this game as it generates more of the divisions and keep people tuned.

The trap some appear to fall for is trying to sell their projection as the corporate media sells theirs. It's people talking past each other and plays into the games those who want to divide and further the possibility of violence rather than preventing it.
