Most Americans are upset with this debt BS, but aren't that mad about the economic situation in
America. Now that football season is starting up they are focused on that. I am not dissing football I am a huge football fan. Go Bears (Cal) and Go Raiders, but football isn't important. Most Americans pay attention to anything, but what is important. They say things like eww politics is boring or they are all the same, but cannot tell you why. This country will probably have to go below the bottom before everyone wakes up.

1. The tv and video game generation. A need to be entertained. I find
politics to be very entertaining but I guess it's not the same thing.

5. I like video games to, but for the most part my tv remains off.
I hate TV, but if you follow Facebook and Twitter, you will see posts which will get hundreds of responses like this. Did you see Housewives of Atlanta last night? Those women are crazy. I will post something, Wall Street robs America, and it gets ignored.

7. It is very discouraging. I get angry with my sons, they have no interest
in politics, but ask me questions.. They're in their late 40s, and one is a union guy...sigh.

2. IMO, that is one other important reason to have honest politicians.
Pols who put the good of the people and the country before their own.

Sadly, only a few of them succeed at being elected.

Public campaign funding only would increase their quantity, and quality.

And I like many sports too.

3. If the current mess were moved to a reality show, then it would have top ratings, and move
the next election to American Idol. That would suite the American interests and attention spans.

6. Yeah, that should do it! "Dancing with the Politicians!" Also that ghoulish
video of Rove and Gregory dancing would make a nice MSM dance.

10. reading is wonderful
but most people probably watch tv for the opposite reason they pick up a book. (i.e. they want to veg out.)

12. Most Americans probably think that the "adults"
in congress would have taken debt ceiling into account when passing the budget?

What's that you say? they wimped out on passing the Federal budget and refused to address it seven times in a row?...well, that's kind of why I put adults in quotes.

Fortunately voters have a short attention span.

13. Most Americans are ignorant to the fact the debt ceiling is about paying for money
already spent; which is why you here some Americans saying we should lower the debt ceiling.

14. Which is why it is silly not to pass a budget
on the mandated deadline and keep passing appropriation bills in instead. Congress did not want to have these discussions last September so they punted and now we are in crunch time against an artificial deadline with both sides blathering pure unmitigated crap.
